DISTRICT INDUSTRIES CENTRE, PALAKKAD

Palakkad District came into existence as an administrative unit on the 1st January, 1957. The ancient history of the District is closely associated with the mythical hero Lord Parasurama, said to have created Kerala and divided it into 64 gramams. According to William Logan, the author of the “Malabar Manual”, the Pallava dynasty of Kanchi might have invaded Malabar in the second or third century. One of their headquarters was a place called ‘Palakkada’ which could be the present day Palakkad.
