2022 - 23 Year of Enterprises

Introduction

The Government of Kerala (GoK) as part of celebrating the financial year 2022-23 as the‘Year of Enterprises’ to encourage and promote more Micro, Small and Medium level entrepreneurs in the State have entrusted the Directorate of Industries with the initiative “Setting up of One Lakh Enterprises during 2022-23”.

With the aim to strengthen MSMEs in the state for equitable distribution among all strata of the society especially neo-entrepreneurs, women& other weaker sections, NRK investors, ex-service men etc., the State has undertaken several initiatives to provide adequate industrial infrastructure and develop clusters, facilitate MSMEs through simplified industrial licensing procedures, providing financial incentives/assistance, capacity building & skilling for creating local jobs, revive sick units,export promotion and technical assistance. This new initiative is part of the sustained efforts taken by the Government to encourage economic growth and promote social & economic development in the State despite the challenges imposed by pandemic, natural calamities, and resource constraints.The key objectives of the scheme are as follows:

  1. To commence at least 1 lakh enterprises in Kerala in 2022-23
  2. To create a robust ecosystem for Enterprises Development with the convergence and support of all line departments, agencies, PSUs and Banks
  3. To create an Enterprises-friendly ecosystem to boost job creation in the State
  4. To create at least 3 lakh jobs in Kerala in 2022 – 23
  5. To enhance capacity of State level agencies in accelerating enterprises growth in the State

Entrepreneur Development Executives (EDE) - Contact details

As part of the programme 'Year of enterprises 2022-23' to start one lakh enterprises, the Directorate of Industries & Commerce has appointed 1153 Entrepreneur Development Executives on contract basis at all Local Self Government Institutions (Panchayat/ Municipality/ Corporation) across the State. The main function of the interns is to identify potential entrepreneurs to start enterprises in the areas within the respective local bodies and to provide them with the necessary guidance and hand holding support to avail licenses, loan & other infrastructure facilities. As part of the scheme, a fixed number of enterprises have to be started this year within each local body. Target has been assigned to each intern to start a fixed number of enterprises by providing hand holding support.

Entrepreneurs are identified through general awareness campaigns conducted at the local self government level and in collaboration with various departments, agencies and clubs. Potential entrepreneurs can contact Entrepreneur Development Executives assigned to the respective local bodies for more information. The details of the Entrepreneur Development Executives are given below.

 


COMMON FACILITY SERVICE CENTRES, CHANGANASSRY( Plastic & Rubber), MANJERI (Rubber)

Two Common Facility Service Centers (CFSCs) have been set up at Changanassery and Manjeri to promote polymer based industry especially Plastic and Rubber. This two centres are functioning under the direct control of the Directorate of  Industries and Commerce. CFSC Manjeri provides Rubber related common facility and CFSC, Changanassery provides Rubber and Plastic related Common facility. Two CfSC has Tool Room Division to support general Mechanical engineering works like  automobile / wood / printing presses / brick making units / other general engineering enterprises.

Two CFSCs have well equipped Physical and Chemical testing laboratory

Objectives of CFSC Manjeri (Rubber) and Changanassery(Rubber and Plastic)

  • To provide technical support to industrialists and entrepreneurs in Rubber, Plastic  and Tool Room based industries.
  • To conduct training programmes and seminars for the upliftment of rubber and Plastic based industries.
  • To provide testing facilities for checking the quality of rubber chemicals and rubber products. 
  • To provide laboratory facilities for the development of new rubber products
  • To provide the service of costly rubber processing machineries to customers.
  • To provide technical support for the fabrication of tools, moulds and dies in the Tool Room
